Youth, you there?

This is an appeal to the youth of our nation, from someone who’s one of you. I, alike you people, watched the state of our capital state, last night on the television. It sent a chill across my nerves. I’ am not scared, but I am scared that I may never feel safe enough to send my loved ones out starting from tomorrow. What has happened to our nation? Are we not united enough to be able to tackle this? Are we not following strict measures of safety? Are we not careful about things? Just imagine how many times we would have come across these terrorists on the streets, but how would we know? It’s not written in their face. So, how do we fight this? How do we make sure that the coming generation will get to see a peaceful tomorrow? We have to play a role in ensuring the safety of our country. Just sitting down and blaming the government won’t help. This problem has to be tackled with mutual understanding in between the citizens and the system. I’ am not asking anybody to dedicate their lives to fighting terror. Do what you are doing, but just be a little careful. Let’s together take up the responsibility of contributing to the safety of our country, which right now seems to be in its most vulnerable situation. How will we ever be able to sleep at nights if we don’t realize the importance of waking up? And, what better time than now? I always that think India is a country with the maximum population of young people. And, these people who spread terror in the country need to be shown how weak they are in front of our unison.

Presence of Mind:

Be attentive friends. Keep your eyes and earns open to any susceptible act by anybody. These terrorists sit, walk and live amongst us. All they take advantage of is our ignorant and care-a-damn attitude. Let’s change. It’s about the country now. The safety of our loved ones should not be the only concern. Make sure that you follow suspects smartly, and try to discover if something is shady. Try and listen to their phone conversations, in case they are talking on the phone. Be smart and make sure you don’t ignore such things. If you discover something suspicious about them, and you’re not in a position to react, inform the police. It’s your right to question anybody if that’s what has to be done to ensure the nation’s safety. However, please make sure that you don’t harm anybody innocent. Please be sure before indulging in an activity. This is as important as your personal business. Here, it’s public business. If by being attentive, you can save lives, then what’s the harm?

Spot the Danger:

If you spot a bag, a packet, or any other kind of belonging anywhere, please inform the police, or the nearest public service authority. In past, there have been incidents where the terrorists have easily placed bombs in crowded areas, and we don’t pay enough attention to notice that they’re leaving something behind. If you see people leaving their belongings behind, please make sure you stop them and ask them for a reason. If it is not convincing enough, please don’t let them go away. I believe that a lot of people would come across situations where they would be suspected by others, but please try and understand that it is for our own safety. Please make sure that you don’t let anybody come close to a suspicious object lying in a public place. And, please don’t create chaos by making noise. If the suspect is still around, this would give him/her an opportunity to move out of there. Please keep your cool and take the concern to the right people. There is nothing to be embarrassed. There is nothing to feel shy. It’s time we come forward and do our duties as responsible Indian citizens. Be it on trains, on buses, in the auto rickshaws, or on the streets. Let’s spot the danger before it bursts out and hurts our fellow citizens.

Kindly co-operate:

In the past few days, I have seen several incidents where youngsters refuse to co-operate with the security system in public places. Some of us don’t allow the officials to perform their duties. It’s not good to be rebellious everywhere. Not at the cost of your life, or may be others’. If officials ask you to show your belongings, and ask you to go through a security check, please co-operate with them. If you don’t and try to break laws, you never know that the criminal would take advantage of the situation to barge into the place along with you. As I said, they are around us. There is nothing to prove here. Be patient and let the officials do their job. If something happens, they would be blamed and not you. So, please be kind and understand their obligations.

Be Humanistic:

If, after all this, something still happens, please don’t run away from the situation. We should try and help our brothers and sisters who fall victims to the unexpected situation. If bringing a difference in between us, breaking us as a common and understanding society, and making us kill each other are the purpose of these terrorists, let’s together fail it. Let’s come up strongly against their weak act for their own sadistic pleasures. Let’s help, and come forward and help the investigation too. If there is something we have witnessed at the crime scene, a clue, or any kind of suspicious behavior, let’s inform the authorities. You never know that by sharing a small piece of information, you may help the police track down the big group of these brain-washed criminals, who, in the name of God kill innocent people. Let’s be one, and let’s not be so terrorized that we lose the ability to fight it back. I believe we can. Just a little bit of being responsible and careful, and we are there. In the new light of freedom, where we would not be scared to walk the streets and we would not have to see our country dying everyday in the hands of our ignorant selves. Let’s face it, fight it and kill it: the terror.

“Freedom is the ability to sustain it.”

Problems?

To start with, the most intelligent living being evolved into something called a human. Humans adapted life the way it was and started living with available resources. Humans evolved into thinkers. They thought they should invent and discover. They invented means to move and discovered other resources. Quality of life improved and humans made a mark everywhere. Then came colonies. Humans split and formed communities. They still had the same habits and still ate the same food. Then came leaders. A class of humans who had the ability to convince the others. The others started using their sense of listening more than thinking. Then came ideologies. The leaders' ideologies were diffused into people under them. Unfortunately, different ideologies had different names, different languages, and different food cultures. Then humans invented means to support their ideologies-GOD. They needed somebody to hold responsible for their actions. Then came differences. Difference in thinking, difference in living, and difference in treating each other. Brothers became neighbours, neighbours became enemies, and enemies became more important than self. Then humans invented means to hurt enemies and eventually themselves. Then humans protested (against something they created themselves). Then humans chose to deny or accept. They split and slit their siblings' throats. They found happiness in aspirations, ambitions and success. However, always based on their siblings' losses. Then came adaptation again, but this time with affordability. Then came rich and poor. Then came gaps and humans who rose to bridge gaps (NGOs). In all this, take the money factor for granted. Then it all came down to adjustment. It all came down to access and lack of it. It all came down to ignorance and awareness. It all came down to who can and who can't. It all came down to who should and who shouldn't. It all came down to problems. What I want to ask is, aren't these problems created by us humans? Aren't we fighting against ourselves? Aren't we killing our own souls? Aren't we neglecting our innerselves? Aren't we the problems ourselves? The problems are within us, and not around us. And,what do GODS do? They enjoy their formation, their position and say..."These humans always form a mess out of nothing".

Empower every Indian

As Mr. AP.J. Abdul Kalam always says, the youth today has to look for opportunities in the rural stretch of India, and come up with innovative ideas to empower the same. It could be educating them, it could be training them, or it could be retaining their faith in their inate potential-art. Why is it that these people sell their lands (in case they have), give up their skills and come to the urban? And, with that little amount of knowledge, and negligible support from anywhere, what do they do? They face worse situations and strive to survive. If you have closely noticed the urban streets (apart from the new versions of our high-class cars and bikes), these people from rich Indian villages and cultures, beg on the streets to succeed everyday in the war between satisfaction and hunger. Why have they lost faith in their true potential? Why have they started dreaming about living on this side of the highway (urban)? The answer is, lack of support from us (the supposedly responsible citizens who fail to convert our potential into change). So, what do we do now? We have to start asking each other these questions and start peeping inside ourselves for answers. It's not that everyone can change, it's not that I' am asking everyone to be a hero, but at least contribute. India is a society where you could find all kinds of people. However, we fail at finding the right way to balancing our commercial and social sides on the platform of patriotism. Let's do it now, or you'll never again have the enthusiasm. Get into groups, travel into these villages and give the people there reasons enough to appreciate themselves and their skills. Bring their skill into light. Raise their economy and take them off the urban streets. Here, you cannot wait for the opportunity. You have to create it and deliver it to benefit the villagers and yourself (by playing a role). I' am not sure if you have taken this in the right spirit, and if you have not, then I doubt the existence of spirit in you.
